Not necessarily.  There'll be a difference as gas is drained from the 
tank, but if the level remains stable, the temperature of the liquid 
will tend to equal the temperature of the gas somewhere near ambient 
temperature.

In any case, it would require an entire grid of sensors.  Expensive 
solution.
