So OpenSolaris has their "nwam" or network auto-magic service.  It only
turns on 1 ethernet interface, etc.  So if you don't like such magic,
you might turn it off with svcadm disable nwam .

If you disable it, manually configure interfaces, and then reboot

- automatically made exports, NFS etc. don't come up

- your manually configured /etc/hostname.e1000g0 or whatever interface
don't come up anyways

Why?

Because it is not enough to disable nwam, you have to enable
network/physical:default .  Why is it that network/physical doesn't just
shadow nwam, so that if nwam is turned off it acts in a rational manner?

ARGH.
