[geeks] Replacement MacBook question

Hello all,
My wife's powerbook (867 MHz PowerPC with a fresh, Apple replaced battery and a new keyboard) is showing it's age. She was unable to book our daughter's birthday party at Chuck E. CHeese's because her browser was too old (Safari for the PowerPC has been capped, AFAIK).
Now, rather tahan take my advice (it was a sign that we shouldn't have the party at Chuck E Cheese's ;^), she decided to consider upgrading her laptop.
She like the MacBook Air, but at $1,499 (as an Apple refurb) it is a bit steep, and that model includes an actual HD, not a SSD. Anyone have any exp. with that particular model?
Or, in an effort to leep the older PowerPC Macbook in use, anyone have any exp. with more modern browsers than the latest release of Safari?
Personally, I think she should upgrade and sell the old laptop to defray the cost, but I feel compelled to try and make this laptop last one more year...
This has a max of 640 Meg of RAM, and the original 40-60 Gig HD, IIRC.
Any advice?
Lionel
