I think most health care systems are skewed towards dealing with bad
things. Perhaps because historically there wasn't a consensus on what
life-style choices were likely to result in 'bad things'. Some are
beginning to see that earlier intervention can save money. Of course
these things happen at different rates in different places.

I haven't had the "pleasure" of seeing that one :)

Comparing health care systems isn't easy and most who do (probably me
too) make a complete mess of it.

I'm not entirely sure there's any politician I'd trust to cross the
road without help.

As someone who doesn't live there, I must admit the US political system
is vastly amusing (sorry!).
