Well, rsync 2.6.3 on OS X 10.5 handles resource forks. From the manpage:
-E, --extended-attributes
Apple specific option to copy extended attributes,
resource forks, and ACLs.
Requires at least Mac OS X 10.4 or suitably patched rsync.
I'm not quite sure how sync'ing from a Mac to a non-Mac handles things
though (not to mention that rsync 3.0 on a non-Mac uses '-E' for something
completely different).
