[geeks] Sometimes luck IS on my side

My 15" Powerbook G4 has almost the exact same problem. Sound would
usually come out of the speakers, but would occasionally cut out.
Plugging in headphones always worked. My machine is just about four
years old, though and is long out of warranty.
