Usually this just results in broken power management and no microcode
updates.  In the case of CPUs with unusual acceleration features that get
exported through a SPI (VIA's crypto stuff, for example), those features
will be handled through software emulation.

I mean, really, if you think about it, there's not altogether too much
critical that a "CPU driver" can do unless you have a service processor to
load it into main memory.
