If you have a Mac, there's a channel-identification function[0] in
"Audio / MIDI Setup" under "Utilities".  If this is under Windows, check
the utilities that shipped with your audio card's driver; usually
there's one included.

You didn't mention what sort of audio you're sending to your receiver.
If it's S/PDIF or TOSlink, you don't have all 7 channels in the raw and
you'll need a surround-encoded file.

I might have the software to generate such a file.  I'll check when I
get home from work (hoo-ray for high-speed code burns).
