digression - i found it fascinating that bolivian law specifies that
no public employee can be paid more than el presidente -- so when the
new socialist-people's-party-elect put his money where his mouth was
and only drew an average worker's wage, everyone else in the gov had
to also!  savings to the national budget were noticeable.

sad - but a reflection of human nature - that this sort of responsible
politician is newsworthy.

back in the '70s, there was a niche steel company that made all its
mgmt spend 2 weeks a year working a furnace, so they'd remember where
the company's money came from.
