My school was actually about 400-500 for many years so everybody knew just about
everybody.  It made a better environment.  Our STUPORintendent expanded the school
so we should have about 800 and the difference is noticable.  Now we are going
to "small learning communities" where the school is divided into groups.  Been
tried before...doesn't work. You need separate buildings not a different floor.
Also teachers will now be guidence councelsers too.  I will be assigned (supposedly)
15 students.  No idea where the time for that will fit in.  That will probably die 
is a few years like everything else.
