Since it seems to be a free for all on floppy diskette stories...

As an interesting anecdote, in South Africa, we called the 5.25" disks
"floppies", so the logical term for a 3.5" disk in the rigid plastic
shell was a "stiffy". Many an unsuspecting South African abroad was
censured for asking their coworkers to pass them a "stiffy".
