Yes at least when you use a PC.

Edit /etc/default/kbd and uncomment :-
KEYBOARD_ABORT=alternate
Then run 'kbd -i' (or reboot).
And stick a postit note somewhere near the PC reminding you of the
alternate sequence (<CTRL-m> ~ <CTRL-b>).
