For the price difference, you could buy a few used tape drives.

And if your data is important enough to backup, do you really want to  
trust it to 4TB of rather cheap disk being carried back and forth  
between home and an offsite location (or do you have a way to  
reasonably move that much backup data over the net to another secure  
location?).
