The problem with that is a Pakastani affiliated with AL-Queida put
together a plot to bring down U.S. airliners in the late 1990's with
bombs made on the airplanes consisting of chemicals mixed with shampoo,
contact lens fluid, etc. The detonators were made from travel alarm clocks.

The bombs were the type made from two relatively inert igredients that
became an explosive when mixed.

He did a test run in the Philipines where he got on a commuter flight,
built the bomb for personal care liquids he carried on the plane and
got off at a stop over. The bomb went off killing the man who had
taken his seat.

He was almost caught when he did something to upset the superintendent
of the cheap apartment building he was staying in and the guy called the
police to evict him. The bomber disapeared out of a window when
they came to the door and disapeared for many years.

He was found last summer in Pakistan after having having trained the person
who planned the airliner bombings that were prevented.

National Geographic did a "Seconds From Disaster" episode about him and
the first bombing.

Now of course there are far more things to hide timed detonaters in, such
as iPods, medical devices, etc.

Geoff.
