I disagree. I have a 37" LCD I paid $600 for, an upscaling DVD player
with DVI-D output which I paid $35 for and couldn't be happier with, and a
basic cable plan that thanks to QAM and the way RCN delivers cable in the
northeast of the united states gives me all the major networks in
unencrypted QAM HD (as well as ESPN) and all the basic cable channels in
unencrypted QAM SD (480i), for which I'm building a dual QAM tuner MythTV
box to timeshift record shows. (I've been very happy with my dual
cable-ready analog tuner MythTV box for the last two years, but I'm
looking forward to just capturing the MPEG-2 QAM streams instead, which
are better.)
