This is somewhat similar, but on a larger scale possibly, to the  
number of people displaced by rising sea levels over the last 7-10,000  
years. Evidence gathered in recent years in the seas around India and  
in the North Sea (between the UK and Europe) have provided proof that  
the last thaw must have displaced millions due to flooding and loss of  
homes and areas of cultivated land. Whole townships and cities have  
been found in what used to be fertile low-lying areas of the world now  
covered by the sea. They would not only have lost settlements but also  
vital crops and food supply areas for grazing and hunting.

Although the 'food problem' is a serious one, again it's been dealt to  
mankind before and didn't harm us significantly as a species. Of  
course the humanitarian side will be devastating but I'm afraid the  
earth has a habit of doing that from time to time too...
