[geeks] KDE "konsole" cluebat?

Any KDE experts out there that can hit me with a cluebat on this issue?

I'm trying to get the terminal font, "terminus" to show up in the font
selection list. I've done the requisite googling (and got Linux
refs):
*checked that the bitmap fonts are available to X
 * updated my Xft local.conf
 * forced fc-cache to rebuild the caches
 * restarted the X server software
As the above didn't work, I've also tried:
 * copied them to the /opt/csw/kde-gcc/share/apps/konsole/fonts/ directory
  * then added them to KDE via the "kcmfontinst"
While they do show up in the Control Center list of fonts now there is
still no sign of Terminus in the Konsole Settings->Custom menu. I've
even gone so far as to reboot. :-/

I'm running under Solaris 10 x86 using the blastwave package kde-gcc.

Barring an answer to that, anyone know why going from my Sol 10 box
using xterm to a Linux box results in completely weird terminal
behavior? (e.g. improperly updated characters in the term and similar)
My TERM variable is set appropriately. I switched to konsole for the
moment as it doesn't appear to have this problem, but some of my fonts
in KDE look like complete crap, so I was trying to get something more
readable installed.

Thanks for any pointers.
