That could start a year long debate, but IMHO there is only one worthwhile
patent office, and that's the U.S. If you want to patent something elsewere
you file a U.S. patent and any additional Patent Cooperation Treaty
patents as needed.

PCT applictions really do nothing except hold a place for a patent
to be issued when you get the U.S. patent starting from the application
date of the U.S. patent.

Current practice is if you have a U.S. patent, and the company has a
U.S. presence, you can sue them for infringment in the U.S. if they
market an infringing product or service anywhere in the world.

Until China and India become truely industrialized, the U.S. market is
bigger than the rest of the world combined, except for localized products,
such as wombat washers.
