Toe jam has more insight into the industry than John Dvorak does.

Some memorable moments:

"There is no evidence that people want to use these things." Dvorak's
comment about the computer mouse in 1984.

"With 90 percent of the mainstream writers being Mac users, what would
you expect?", his comment about good Apple press.

I didn't specifically pick out Apple quotes, it just happens that since
he's been slamming Apple for 22 years now, it is hard to find anything
else.

He also pulled a Bill Gates back in the 80s saying that computers
already had the capacity for more memory than a human programmer could
use, and all sorts of things like that.

The thing with Dvorak is that he says just enough things right, and
makes such broad generalizations that he is bound to be correct quite a
bit, and so people believe he is accurate.

He's the Rush Limbaugh of the computer world. If he stopped making
money bashing Apple, he'd switch sides in a heartbeat.

Incidentally, he did write for MacUser for awhile, though he bashed
Apple even there.

Anyone remember his sidekick for a few years? I can't remember the guys
name, seems like it was Jim Spencer or something.
