3 things will cause that:

a) Not turned on (gotta state the obvious)
b) Dead batteries
c) Dead electronics

a and b are easy to fix ;) no clue on c

I have a SU1400 that acts like the one you have - maybe I've been lucky
but a new set of batteries usually brings them back.
