FC-AL is the only way the SB1000 shipped. I looked into the the other Sun Blades, but they all looked a bit "wonkey" - things like IDE HDs or exhorbitant prices drew me to the SB1000 for a new desktop (that, plus the fact I had one sitting in my den for the last several months idle ;^)...
It generates a bit of heat, but it is quiet and it just goes and goes...
