[geeks] how to make a video file for an old macintosh

Anyone have any idea how to make a video file for an older Mac?

It's a 300mHz beige G3 running MacOs 9. Speed wise it can play MPEG-1
video, but it lacks a decent video player. Quicktime is about it.

The original video I need to encode for the guy is 720x576 25 fps,
MPEG-4 AVI file, but it was from a VHS tape, so I can cut it down with
no noticable loss (I hope).

Any suggestions?
