Found this in the usenet archive on google, dated Wed, 22 Sep 1999:

"About a month ago, I posted a request for help about a problem I was
having with installing an entire CD on the local library's iMac. Infomac
readers were very generous with their help, as always, and I received
about two dozen replys.

All replies had the same thread; use Shrink Wrap or Apple Disk Copy to
create a disk image of the CD(s). A couple of people were generous
enough to provide step-by-step in structions.

I used Disk Copy. Then, I put aliases of the disk images into the
startup folder (uncompressed) so the images (I installed 6 CDs) mount
very quickly on startup. There is a chance they will get "messed around
with" at the library, so I also put an alias to each into the apple menu
where library staff people can get to them easily. We shall see how it
works in the long(er) term. So far it has been fine."
