They have less guns for citizens, yes.

Their criminals seem to have just as many as they ever did.

What does depression and disaffect youth have to do with me being armed?

Wether you take a gun to work or not depends on the conditions where you work
and commute. There are some places that definitely warrant being armed in some
way.
