You should look at the Mini. It's faster and you can get it with a bigger
hard drive, a superdrive and it includes a better video card, a warranty,
a legal copy of Tiger and iLife but no scsi. It does have USB 2.0 and
firewire.

The $500 version has a 40 gig drive and a cd writer, dvd reader combinaton. 

Note that if the machine was manufactured before fall 2003, a used Mac will not
READ DVD+R disks.

Now that the Intel Macs are out, you may even be able to find a used Mini
cheap. 

If it does not come with a legal copy of Tiger, I would not pay $300 for
it. You would have to pay $129 plus tax or shipping for the OS alone.
