It happens. I think proofreading is a lost art. One edition of
the physics book I (have to) use had the answers to all of the machine
problems absolutely wrong, every single one! Diagrams are horrible.
I even tell students NOT to look at an illustration or two.
The best example was a social studies book that stated the Statue of
Liberty was made of bronze (who swiped the copper?) Let's not talk
about the political correctness that twists things around. Texas
influences textbook publishers since they buy more books than any other
state (no offense, Bill) so if they want something in or out of a book,
it happens.
