I love how they assume your machine is on a network, or that if it is, 
it is allowed to make arbitrary connections to the outside world.

I can't stand what they've done to and are planning to do to the music 
and video industry already.

Microsoft and others have tried very hard to make the computer into a 
non-modifiable appliance that spies on you and sucks money out of you to 
garantee them and their partners an undeserved revenue stream.

Fortunately the backlack against this has been big so far, and the geeks 
have been working very hard to stop such threats.

That's the real reason behind things like the DMCA: to make the work 
which helps us oppose Orwellian computer system design illegal.
