I got email from the head of IT at our Irish division today telling me
he thought I'd done "an exemplary job" over the last few months, and
lamenting our new CTO's decision not to keep me on; and now our CFO just
stopped me in the hall to ask how much longer I'd be around, wish me
well, and offer to be a reference.  (She, too, commented sadly that
after the re-org, it was neither her decision nor my manager's whether
to keep me on.)  This is confidence-boosting stuff that's badly needed
after the last few years.

And it's just struck me that corporate executive officers now compose
half my reference list....  if nothing else, that ought to get HR
droids' attention.
