> Quickie poll:
>
> Out of those who will admit to operating win32 boxen, whi likes which
> "personal" firewalls and why?
>
> I'll start off by noting that I'm currently using ZoneAlarm on our Win2K
> boxen (which are also behind a Linux iptables firewall/NAT box). I like
> its ability to permit or deny local and Internet network access, both as
> client and as server, on a program-by-program basis, but I'm getting
> tired of it occasionally forgetting which programs are supposed to have
> access (even when they're right there in its configuration) and having
> to be reminded after every reboot that they're allowed access. I'd like
> to replace ZoneAlarm with a firewall that possesses that same ability,
> or similar, but not the annoying amnesia (if such a beast exists).

I use ZoneAlarm on my laptop but it doesn't seem to have that much amnesia.
I've been keeping up with the updates. What annoys me is when it gives a
popup and doesn't give you the chance to select to remember the setting.
Of couse being a teacher, my work is not as "mission critical" as other
people's work and I have plenty of backups in disks and machines. ;->
