Wasn't a laptop, that was an ad for the SGI Indy.
Cool ad though. I remember being a kid just out of high school,
drooling over that ad, wishing and hoping.
That type of lust makes you buy 'em up like hot cakes when you
finally get the opportunity. I've got enough Indy's now to make
a dining set out of them.
SGI has never made a laptop for production. Some third party
companies have taken SGIs (Indy's and O2s i believe) and
"ruggedized" them into cases similar to laptops for military and
scientific uses, but SGI itself has never made one. The one in
Twister (or was it Congo?) was a movie prop.
