I'm on cable modem service, which is a shared segment design (I compete for
bandwidth on the wire with about 1000 other households). My low is 1.0
megabit/sec and my high is 5 megabit/sec. The worse times are when the
kiddies are home (3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 10pm). My uplink is capped at 256
kilobit/sec. but at least it is consistent.
