[geeks] BIOS & timezone interaction under Linux

OK, I have googled, but I can't find anything
to definitively say one way or another...

On an Linux box (x86), does the BIOS TZ setting
impact the OS? My understanding is that the OS
gets it's initial clock time at boot up from the
HW clock.

I'm inclined to set the BIOS clock to match the OS
TZ, but am wondering if this will interfere with
'UTC=true' in /etc/sysconfig/clock. (I'm not even
sure about 'UTC=true' for switching PST to PDT
and vice versa; I see conflicting info.)

Thanks for suggestions/pointers.
