It's equally amazing how noisy a disk can be.  I have one of Sony's
little laptops, and when I first got it I thought there was something
wrong with the disk, but it's just that there is so little case bulk
(and therefore noise insulation) and no other noise sources (when the
fan is off), that the disk is the only thing going.

Of course nothing is as annoying as those old Sun disks......
