1 .. It appears to be 1746

2 .. A "punative expedition" would have been considered a bit heavy-
     handed but quite normal at the time. Whilst we would consider
     it extremely barbaric, it would not have qualified as attempted
     genocide (and it's unlikely that the Scottish allies of the king
     would have stood still for anything too extreme).

3 .. Have you a source for this 'scrourging of the glens' ? I did a
     quick google and found nothing, although there are plenty of
     wordy descriptions of the battle and the aftermath.
