Well, if it was a PC, I'd say he was trying to avoid catching anything,
but since it's a Mac, I assume it is out of respect for the boxes ;^)

Seriously, he is working with up to 1,100 boxes, I'm sure it is mainly
to avoid callouses & random cuts from all the sharp metal edges. (Maybe
he wants to keep his hands soft for his S.O. ;^)
