Here's my solution:
motomo at Skyfire:~$ sleep 8h; mpg123 /mp3/Iron\ Butterfly/in\ a\ gadda\
da\ vida.mp3
Then turn up the volume on the speakers, turn off the monitor and go to
sleep. Optionally, add a few more semicolons with 5m sleeps and more
iron butterfly for a Ctrl-c snooze feature. Sure, it's far less elegant
a program, but i could trust it to do what it needs (assuming the
computer is on a UPS that would wake me up in the event of a power
failure)
But then, i the only things in my bedroom that use electricity are my
light fixture/ceiling fan, and alarm clock. It's quiet and peaceful
in there.
