that co was interix, and as i heard it, they wanted to kill the
interix approach to migrating unix apps to nt in favor of their own
****-poor -very- minimal [and buggy. surprise!] api.
it's truly delicious to see at least -one- victory for technical
excellence. btw, it's rumored to be more stable than win32...
if you like irony, how about m$ owning unix? sco was their spinoff,
back in the early/mid '80s, and afaik still ms-controlled when they
bought usl from novell.
