The primary "pep" element in red Bull is taurine.  I
developed a taste for Red Bull and vodka a couple of years
ago.  Tasty mix.

BTW: it is unwise to mix Red Bull (taurine and caffeine),
alcohol and ephedra (usually also mixed with caffeine).
