I just placed an order for some Octane ram from SGI. I spoke
to the sales rep, did everything on the phone. An hour later
he emails me the quote and says that he needs the Octane
serial number before he can submit the order. What kind of BS
is this? The machine is not located here, it's at home. So
that means i have to wait until tonight when i get home, email
him the serial number and then my order will end up being
placed on Monday in stead of today. It is no longer their
property and i am trying to order an entirely separate product
from them. What business is it of theirs what my machines
serial number is? I'm not asking for warranty service on my
machine or anything of the sort. I've ordered several machine
parts from IBM, Compaq and HP and i have never been bothered
about what the actual serial number of the machine the product
was going into was.

Bastards.

/KRM
