If you can get that deck serviced or replaced for free I would. Decent 
equipment HAS regulation in it to begin with. If they are thoughtful it 
also has polarity protection.

On the other hand, are you sure your charging circuit/battery is going to 
16V? That should cause low bulb life all around the car. I'd look at having 
the car serviced.
