That's what I recall as well. I seem to remember that Amiga's were 
snapped up by the video crowd because it was the only thing that came 
anywhere near the quality of SGI's (by which I mean it was sort of 1/2 
way there rather than 1/10 of the way there).

Funnily enough I don't remember it as a gaming machine. At the time, the 
European price for PC's (and clones) was ridiculously high, and the 
Amiga together with a whole bunch of old-fashioned "home computers" 
sold very well for general use.

European Amiga nuts might claim it was the lack of US sales that killed 
the Amiga. Don't know myself as I was never into them.
