that's just normal lawyerish behavior and tactics.  they all do it.

they should.  lawyers have managed to create an arena where they set
the rules and nobody else can interpret or even understand them.

i'm beginning to see our adversarial court system as a modern version
of medieval trial by combat.  the surface excuse is that in the
contest, truth will be uncovered and the righteous [innocent] will
triumph, but the real forces and motivations are quite different.
