Well, in a fit of boredom last night, I decided I was going to see just
how close to my Irix boxes I could make my Linux box look. I'm a Gnome
user under Linux, but I've always loved the IMD on Irix. I managed to
find Gtk themes and windowmanager (metacity) themes that were pretty
close approximations of the original, but all the icons I could find (I
wanted to go all out) were just little png's of the Irix icons. Irix
has one pretty cool thing about its icons, and that is that they are all
vector based, so they scale nicely. 32x32 pngs don't :). So, since
Nautilus (the file manager under gnome) supports vector icons via the
svg format I decided to see if anybody had made svg versions of the Irix
icons. No luck. So I decided to make my own fti2svg program. It's
coming along pretty nicely and I've managed to convert every stock Irix
icon into svg format, minus the color, so they are all black white and
gray. Does anybody know any details on the colors in fti files? I
can't seem to figure out what they mean, since they all just seem to be
random NEGATIVE numbers, ie -261, -183. I'm guessing there is a palette
somewhere that these match up to, but I don't know where to find it.
Anyone have any info?
Cheers,
Caleb Shay
