BTDT.  However, after zeroing-out the disc, the install appears to be
going normally.  I just wish OS X had more in the way of diagnosis and
repair tools.  Expecting the user to back up, reformat, reinstall, and
restore everytime the system farts is a very Microsoftian view of the
world.
