[geeks] DNS Weirdness

Has there been a recent explosion in people that aren't registering 
their domains?  I've been reading through my mail logs and have come 
across quite a large number of connections with proper reverse-DNS, but 
completely nonexistent DNS zones.  These aren't those "new.net"[0] 
zones, either, but zones hung off the big three top-level domains.

[0] Another rant entirely about a practice deserving of a LART of 
nuclear proportions.  OMFG.  I just noticed that Earthlink has the 
"new.net" zones enabled in its nameservers.  Excuse me while I change 
ISPs.
