Try VirtualDub. Version 1.2 if you can find it - it will let you make .avi
using the MP43 codec. Later versions bow down to Microsoft and block the
option.

I can .zip 1.2 or 1.4.7 and e-mail/post them if you like. Drop me a note
offline if you want either.

Tom

Subject: [geeks] Quick & Easy Video Editing Program

I'm in need of a Windows(I'm stuck with this, no time to get an O2 or
Mac) program to edit some .avi files I have. I captured some video
off of my camcorder and want to be able to output sections of it as
separate avi files. I have other programs to sequence the clips and
add transitions but none of them seem to be able to do what I want
with regard to splitting the files. I'd like cheap and easy. Thanks
for any suggestions.

Mike
