The machine I have with an adaptec 2940 in it has never performed decently.
I'm not prepared to blame it on the adaptec, but it is the only thing that
has held constant.  Even the case and motherboard have been swapped on this
machine.

I have some qlogic cards that work great.  I'm still pissed that I got ripped
off by someone trying to disguise them as better models than they were though.
I've been thinking of picking up some of those symbios Fast SCSI2 / Fast 
Ethernet cards.  I've never tried symbios cards before though.

Lets see, what else have I used... Mylex of course.  But only for a limited
amount of time.
