BB> (well, not really)

BB> We went to Borders tonight.. They had a big table of "Old, out of date,
BB> and CHEAP! 50% off!" books. Stuff like "Frontpage 97 for Dummies",
BB> things like that.. Hidden in the pile I find a "Teach Yourself C in 24 hours,
BB> Second Edition" by Sams book. Its got some gunk on the cover (like it
BB> had a sticker on it once), and is marked down to $5.99. I grab it, and
BB> go back over and look at the shelf - this is the current edition, selling
BB> 15 feet away for $25. Well, since it was in that pile, it was 50% of
BB> $5.99 (basically, 2.98). Score! This, along with the Schildt book and
BB> the other Sams book I have (Teach Yourself ANSI C in 21 Days), should
BB> be a good set of books to learn from.

BB> Got it home, wiped off the gunk with windex and some kleenex.

BB> I'm still debating the "Teach Yourself COBOL in 21 Days" book for
BB> the same price, they have a HUGE pile of them (10-20); I'm guessing
BB> from the Y2K run on COBOL. 8-)

I actually have BOTH these books and both are fairly good. The COBOL
one does come with a good COBOL compiler for Windows apps. I'm still
thinking about being evil and starting some little open-source app on
SourceForge but do it in COBOL.

"CIM - COBOL Instant Messenging. For those of you that want completely
retro communications." ;->
