Older cars can be fuel efficient and low in pollution too, if they are
maintained.  I had a 73 Corolla that got 29.5 MPG and passed the 85
CA pollution standards....one month before I drove it to the junk yard after
185,000 miles on it. (1600 cc, auto and next to no antipollution devices)
