I tend to like the movies made of Crichton's books better than the books 
themselves.
That really was the case with Jurassic Park. Andromeda Strain was a good 
book, but
I think seeing the movie as a little kid and being fascinated with all the 
(then modern)
techie eyecandy weighted my opinion.
